The Beginnings of Living Dead Dolls

What are Living Dead Dolls? Living Dead Dolls are horror dolls manufactured by Mezco Toyz. Designed by Damien Glonek and Ed Long, these dolls have been available in the market since the year 1998. The production of these dolls started when Long decided to make one using the doll kits of his mother. He then showed his creation to Glonek that sparked their creation of twelve more Living Dead Dolls.

The ingenious designs of the dolls attracted the attention of many, prompting the two designers to make more dolls and sell them officially to the market. Originally, the handmade dolls can only be purchased at Glonek’s company through mail order and at several horror conventions done in the East Coast. In the year 2000, Mezco Toyz saw the dolls during one of the horror conventions and offered the two designers their service of manufacturing and distributing the Living Dead Dolls to the commercial market.

Negotiations were made and by the year 2001, the first series of these horror dolls were released. Since then, two series of Living Dead Dolls are being manufactured every year. The first handmade dolls designed by Long and Glonek did not have names but part of their agreement with Mezco Toyz is to give each of the dolls names in order to provide distinction. Aside from the unique names, each doll is also given his or her own personality that is shown clearly in the design.  Today, Living Dead Dolls are now done with their 16th series and currently working on the 17th.
